Course Description


Stepping into a foreman role requires more than strong electrical knowledge. It requires leadership, planning, communication, and accountability. Field Management for Future Foremen is designed to help electricians transition from skilled worker to effective crew leader.


This course focuses on real-world responsibilities such as managing crews, maintaining safety and code compliance, planning daily work, and communicating effectively with project teams. Through practical examples and interactive activities, participants will gain the confidence and tools needed to lead successfully in the field.


What Participants Will Learn


Participants will learn how to:

  • Transition from journeyman responsibilities to foreman leadership
  • Lead crews while balancing supervision and productivity
  • Strengthen safety leadership, including stop-work authority and Lockout/Tagout awareness
  • Identify common code issues and improve inspection readiness
  • Communicate effectively with crews, project managers, and other trades
  • Plan daily work, assign tasks, and reduce downtime
  • Handle conflict and maintain professionalism under pressure

Course Topics


Leadership & Role Transition


  • Understand the responsibilities of a foreman, including leading a crew, managing performance, and maintaining accountability.


Safety & Code Responsibility


  • Learn how to enforce safety standards, support code compliance, and prepare for successful inspections.


Crew Management & Daily Planning


  • Develop strategies for organizing the workday, assigning tasks, staging materials, and maintaining productivity.


Communication & Accountability


  • Improve communication with crews and supervisors while learning how to manage conflict and lead with consistency.


Real-World Foreman Challenges


  • Apply leadership skills through practical scenarios involving safety issues, job site delays, inspections, and crew dynamics.

  • This course includes hands-on activities and real-world scenarios designed to help participants think and act like a foreman in everyday jobsite situations.

Why This Course Matters


Effective foremen are critical to job-site success. They lead people, ensure safety, maintain quality, and keep projects on track. This course helps prepare participants to take on those responsibilities with confidence and professionalism.


Cancellations must be submitted in writing at least one week in advance. To receive a refund (minus a $75 cancellation fee), IEC must receive written notice by Thursday, May 21, 2026.

No refunds will be given for any reason after Thursday, May 21, 2026. No exceptions.
