Electric Vehicle Charging Station Training Program (EVCSTP) - 20 CEU Hours - Northglenn

The IECRM Electric Vehicle Charging Station Training Program (EVCSTP) is an instructor-led certification course designed to equip participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills for installing electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Participants will explore the fundamentals of electric vehicle technology, including battery management systems, charging infrastructure, and electric motor systems, as well as applicable NEC code requirements. The program offers a deep understanding of the principles behind EVs and the latest advancements in battery technology, energy storage, and sustainable transportation.

This class meets once a week for four hours over six consecutive weeks.

Students will also gain hands-on training in design, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of EV charging systems, guided by a licensed Colorado Journeyman or Master Electrician.

The EVCSTP aligns with the national guideline standard recognized by the U.S. Department of Labor and meets the requirements for EV charging station installation certification. Graduates receive a certificate equivalent to other approved national programs, valid for 20 Continuing Education Units toward Colorado DORA electrical license renewal.

EVCSTP 20-Hour CEU Breakdown:
11 Hours – Wiring Methods
1 Hour – Grounding & Bonding
4 Hours – Theory & Calculations
4 Hours – Safety

Program Format:
Total Program Length: 24 hours (good for 20 CEUs)
Structure: Six modules with a 100-question proficiency exam
Instructor-led training: Conducted by licensed professionals in JW/ME.

Program Objective:
To empower electricians and industry professionals with the skills and expertise needed to install, maintain, and support electric vehicle charging infrastructure, building a workforce ready to lead the transition toward a cleaner, more sustainable future in transportation.

Funding Assistance:
Funding may be available to reimburse class fees. An application will be sent upon registration to apply for reimbursement.

EV installation must be performed by a licensed electrician or under the supervision of a licensed electrician, in accordance with the 2026 National Electrical Code.
