Mr. Michael Gunter: I have been in the electrical industry for 34 years. I started as an electrician in the field then moved into the estimating position at Electrical Contractor Inc. I worked as an estimator for 26 years before retiring. I started Teaching at the IEC apprenticeship program after I graduated and have been teaching in the Electrical Industry for 27 years. I am currently Teaching Code to the 4th-year apprentices. I am a level 3 Instructor at the IEC. I was appointed to the Nation Apprenticeship and training committee to help our industry develop and improve our training program and I served with them for 10 years. I have written the curriculum for the 2nd and the 3rd year program as well as reworking and helping to create the new “ESTS” Electrical systems training program. I have written a new curriculum for our skills-based training program levels one and two as well as our new solar program. I have also developed an estimating course for electricians interested in becoming estimators as well as teaching an advanced estimating class where I teach them to use McCormick Estimating software. In 2023 I was appointed to serve on the NFPA code-making panel 14 to represent the IEC organization. I enjoy working with new electrical apprentices to help them prepare for their futures in the electrical Industry.
