Boom & Scissor Lift Training with fall protection

IEC is partnering with Sunbelt Rentals to provide Lift and Fall Protection. Students will complete an online portion and then participate in an in-person evaluation on Friday, March 27 from 8 AM to 11 AM.

MEWP Boom (3b) and Scissor (3a) Lift Operator Certification

This online theory and hands-on practical evaluation training allows students to obtain the necessary knowledge and skills required to operate boom (3b) and scissor (3a) MEWP lifts safely. Upon successful completion of the classroom theory and final written exam, students must successfully complete the in-person hands-on practical evaluation conducted by a qualified Sunbelt Rentals Certified Evaluator to receive operator certification.

Topics include:

  • Responsibilities as a user and operator
  • Conducting a pre-start inspection
  • Conducting a workplace inspection
  • Various types of equipment
  • Safe operation
  • Preventing accidents and identifying hazards in operation

Note: This is not recognized as fall protection or working at heights training. 

Online portion will take approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes

Fall Protection Authorized User (Classroom Training)

This in-person training provides the practical knowledge required for safely working at heights. Students participate in hands-on exercises and address safe practices and procedures that meet or exceed federal (provincial) regulations, standards and manufacturing requirements.

To receive operator certification, students must:

  • Successfully complete classroom theory and final written exam
  • Have their personal fall protection (PFP - Harness & Lanyard) for the hands-on exercises

  • Calculations
  • Hazards & Assessment
  • Fall Protection Inspection & Criteria
  • Proper Fit & Donning
  • Rescue and Planning


Students must register by noon on March 13th. Registered students will be provided a link later that day for the class
